Samsung U600 – the Slim Slider

When it comes to making slim mobiles, Samsung does not know where to put a full stop. Thus, with every new launch we get to redefine what slim mobiles are all about. The Samsung U600 is one such slim device that has made ripples in the market. Coming under the genre of Ultra Edition Range II, the Samsung U600 is packed with good features in a small case, which is just 11mm thick. Further, the handset is also a tad lighter than its predecessor. The diet device is 2g lighter.

The Samsung U600 comes in an attractive misty blue colour combination. This wraps the phone in an impressive executive tone, without being too boring and business like. Another impressive features of this handset is its screen. For such a compact phone, it is rather surprising that the screen is so large, measuring an eye-pleasing 34mm wide by 45mm tall. There is also a sunlight mode that optimises the screen's contrast.

Beneath the screen are two touch-sensitive soft keys, a mechanical four-way navigation key and touch-sensitive send and end call keys. The flat keypad are exposed when the handset is slid open. The keys are flat but comfortable to use. On the reverse of the U600, Samsung has wisely hidden the 3.2-megapixel camera, and the spring loaded slide mechanism makes easy activation of the camera.

For more entertainment, the Samsung U600 comes with Mp3 player, an FM radio and stereo Bluetooth. One of the novelty involved in the camera of Samsung U600 is its ability to take the pictures of business card using the namecard recognition service. This is a special boon for busy professionals or social freaks.

There is about 60MB of onboard memory, and the device can be attached to the PC via a USB cable and used as a mass storage device. The user interface comes enhanced in this set, making it easier for the users to operate. For connectivity, the Samsung U600 comes with quad band, Bluetooth and EDGE. The handset offers a talk time of 3.5 Hours.
